Terms of Service

Welcome to Chapter ("the App"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chapter mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Chapter ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Chapter. If you are between 13 and 18, you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf.

Chapter hosts both Teen-rated and Mature-rated stories, as described in our Writing Guidelines. Mature content may include explicit sexual, violent, or other adult material and is intended only for readers who are at least 18 years old. By opening or engaging with any story tagged Mature, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18. We may ask you to confirm your age before showing Mature content, and we may restrict, hide, or remove access to Mature content for any account that has not made this confirmation or that we reasonably believe belongs to a user under 18.

2. Accounts

To access certain features (including publishing stories) you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, and to keep it updated. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

3. User Content

"User Content" means any text, images, or other material you submit, post, or display through the Service. You retain ownership of your User Content. By publishing User Content on Chapter, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. You may delete your User Content at any time, which will terminate this license, except where the content has been shared by other users or where we are required by law to retain it.

Chapters you submit for publication are automatically screened for potential violations of these Terms and our Writing Guidelines. If a chapter is flagged by this screening, it will be held back from publishing until it has been reviewed by a member of our moderation team.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Post content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, hateful, threatening, or that infringes on any third party's intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Use the Service to harass, bully, or intimidate any user.
• Upload malware, spam, or any automated content.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other user accounts or our systems.
• Scrape, crawl, or use bots to collect data from the Service without our written consent.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the Service (excluding User Content), including the App's design, logo, mascot, code, and documentation, are and remain the property of Chapter.

6. Copyright Infringement Claims

We respect intellectual property rights and expect users to do the same. If you believe content on Chapter infringes your copyright, send a written notice to support@beyondthestories.id that includes:

• A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
• The location of the allegedly infringing content (e.g., story title, chapter, or URL);
• Your name, address, phone number, and email address;
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf; and
• Your physical or electronic signature.

Upon receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the reported content and notify the user who posted it. A user who believes their content was removed in error may submit a counter-notice with equivalent information; we may reinstate the content unless the original complainant informs us they have filed a court action to restrain the user from engaging in the infringing activity. We will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.

7. Third-Party Services

The App may contain links to or integrations with third-party services (e.g., Google Play). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those services.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chapter, Lunaris Interactive, and our officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your User Content; (b) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chapter shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at our discretion if you violate these Terms.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we will notify you through the App or via email.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of Chapter will be subject to the applicable laws and jurisdiction of the Republic of Indonesia.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
